Re-calculating

by Lucas Foss & Liesl Lafferty

Re-calculating

Premiered at CBC Studio 700 | January 22-24, 2015

Re-calculating is a one-man show that candidly and intimately explores the maturation of Jonathan, a middle aged drummer who has lived with quadriplegia since experiencing a spinal cord injury at the age of 19.  With alarming intimacy and emotional honesty, Jonathan explores the range of feelings and viewpoints he has experienced in the ensuing 36 years, as he grew from an angry young man to a more mature and wise human being. Drumming in the play is a catalyst for memory, an emotional outlet, and is used to negotiate the character’s journey through a personal struggle with the central question of his identity.
